Accessibility

Designed by and for people navigating high-stress situations.

Ultravocal is being designed around variable attention, energy, sensory, mobility, language, and access needs.

Customize the interface, not the person.

Needs change from one day to the next, and stress changes them further. Ultravocal is being designed so the interface can adjust to you, without asking you to explain yourself or to label you.

Being designed for the product

These are design directions. Nothing in this list exists as a working feature yet.

  • Simpler information views, and more context when you want it
  • Reduced motion
  • Larger text
  • Clear focus states
  • Full keyboard access
  • Screen-reader semantics
  • Captions and transcripts
  • Language accessibility
  • Support for focusing on one thing at a time
  • Read-aloud and voice interaction (planned)

This website today

This website is built to work with a keyboard, to show a clear focus outline, to offer a skip link, to follow your device’s reduced motion setting, and to stay readable when text is enlarged.

We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 AA. The site has not yet had an independent accessibility audit, so barriers may remain.

We’re building and validating the first version of Ultravocal with the people it is meant to serve.
